Quick Submit, Thesis Upload, and Filter Settings in Turnitin – Step-by-Step Guide

The “Quick Submit” feature in Turnitin is used to quickly check theses or academic documents for similarity. This feature allows you to upload files and obtain a similarity report without creating a class or assignment.

📌 1. Activating the Quick Submit Feature

  1. Log in to Turnitin as an instructor.

  2. Click on the “User Info” link at the top of the main page.

  3. On the preferences page, select “Activate Quick Submit” → Yes.

  4. After saving, the Quick Submit tab will become visible on the main page.

📌 2. Uploading a Thesis / Document (Quick Submit)

  • Open the Quick Submit tab and click the Submit button.

  • Select the file you wish to upload and choose the databases to be checked for similarity (e.g., academic publications, previous submissions, etc.).

  • Proceed with the upload to submit the file to Turnitin.

📌 3. Filter Settings and Similarity Report

  • Once the report is generated after upload, you can review and interpret the similarity results.

  • You can filter out quotations, bibliography, and low-percentage matches to obtain clearer results.

📌 4. Important Tips

  • For important documents such as theses, the repository option should be set to “No Repository”; otherwise, files will be stored in the Turnitin database and may affect future similarity rates.

  • Quick Submit may be limited by a daily quota and differs from standard in-class submission features.
